We are failing Burma, allowing them to murder and torture – the way we do

The UN and the West have failed Burma as they fail every country that doesn’t have oil or uranium. Strange that. It means independence fighters shouldn’t expect help in their fight against tyranny. Full stop. Fretilin guerillas in East Timor fought for over twenty years before the West began to think the Indonesia military wasn’t able to finish the invasion quickly and their horrible regime couldn’t look good in an increasingly aware media. Oh, and they were in for a chop of the oil if Indonesia won – with their tacit support. Pity that the media has again lapsed into medocrity, apart from The Guardian, The Independent and occasionally The Age.

We’re so frightened of China that we can barely open our mouths in protest. For some it is enthrallment, as they imagine huge benefits will flow from keeping our mouths shut. China is quickly learning how to manipulate the west. It’s simple: let them anticipate wealth and they’ll respond by being nice to us while we continue to murder and torture the way they do.

Let’s attack our dopey politicians – who perhaps don’t know where Burma is – with an onslaught of verbal abuse for their ignorance.

  2. Burma doesn’t really have any oil does it?

I spoke to an oil engineer yesterday as he left for Uganda and he said, “There’s no oil in Burma.” I trust his knowledge. This year he’s also been to Peru and will go to Madagascar later this month. Bridson
