Sioux Indians know they’re in for extreme weather conditions

Australia’s first nationalised native American Indian has recently returned to Talbot, Victoria, from Dakota and other climes. Tony Ghost Hawk who, among other things, has informed me – because I’m on an Arctic expedition in high summer 2008 – that shooting polar bears with a small calibre only makes them irritated. I have no intention of shooting bears but he also advised that I should never be the last in a walking group for the bears always take the last in line.

Hey, and his story on climate change is that American Indians have experienced it all before and that they know they will be able to survive again.

Returning to the wilds is not for everyone. For a start there are no longer enough wild creatures to go around at the cooking fire. We have decimated eatable species and we will pay.
